Abstract

The article considers modernist prose in the light of intertextuality in modern literary criticism; definitions of the concepts of modernism and postmodernism are presented; demonstrated how modernist intertextuality is characterized by the use of intertext (as a text of culture) as an “interpretive, explaining, logical” tool for modeling the world; it is presented that the differential features of intertextuality in modernist prose are psychologism, polyphony, subjectivity, metaliterature.
